Robi Varga is a highly experienced musician and educator with 30+ years of performance and teaching experience. Robi makes each of his alto and tenor saxophone lessons fun and enjoyable. He also teaches flute, clarinet, and music theory lessons. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and is a UMTC Certified Elite Music Theory Educator. Known for both performance excellence and inspiring instruction, Robi brings deep musical knowledge for helping others grow a lifelong passion for music. RVM Saxophone Academy teaches music students how to express themselves musically to brings about a positive personal change, self-awareness, and confidence into their daily practice using online music theory tools and games, aural skills, the internet, and various musical apps. RVM Saxophone Academy uses music and wind instruments to build confidence in students.
A wind instrument—like the saxophone, flute, or clarinet—uses the body’s energy, through breath control, to express a musical sound. RVM Saxophone Academy teaches student musicians how to utilize their body and breath through a musical wind instrument in a safe, positive, encouraging environment to have fun and play music with phrasing, dynamics, and control!
RVM Saxophone Academy teaches Musical Wind Instruments:
Saxophones: Bb Soprano, Eb Alto, Bb Tenor, Eb Baritone,
Flutes: Concert (most common) open hole or closed hole,
Clarinets: Bb Clarinet (most common), and Bb Bass Clarinet.
Creating good habits RVM Saxophone Academy focuses on creating a controlled tone and having good facility of a woodwind instrument so a student can confidently and effortlessly express themselves.
Ask Me Anything Online Open Hours Sessions | Other than regular music lessons, Ask Me Anything Online Open Office Hours sessions are for RVM Academy students to have their questions answered by a qualified musician. You can ask Robi anything about Music Theory, Applied Jazz Theory, Composition, or any other music skills. We can talk about music instruments and music cultures around the world. Or, we can even have a short jam session! Robi is here for you during Ask Me Anything Online Open Office Hours.

UMT Music Theory lessons are taught online via chat, in-person, in 1-on-1 or small group (3 to 6 students) Music Theory lessons. Visual, Auditory, and Kinaesthetic Learning Styles using the Ultimate Music Theory Rudiments course studies is a highly successful step-by-step, systematic approach to Music Theory Exams. UMT Music Theory lessons follows ABRSM and RCM guidelines to deliver high levels of success. Students have gone on to challenge RCM or ABRSM Music Theory Exams.

Robi Varga is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music educator based in Vancouver, Canada. He currently teaches Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Improvisation/ Composition, Music Theory, and Aural Skills, at RVM Music Academy. In 2005, Robi acquired a BMus from King’s University College in Edmonton. Robi has also taught at many music academies across Greater Vancouver including Long and McQuade and Tom Lee Music.
Robi works with pride and integrity. He has helped transform many students into thriving musicians who have ventured into National Jazz Band auditions, college and university music student auditions, RCM and ABRSM Practical Woodwind and Music Theory Exams. Robi has played in many musical styles, choirs, concerts, and festivals.
Robi has appeared as a solo musician and band member in many jazz and blues club venues across Western Canada and has sat in with musician in Hungary, Europe and even the Fiji Islands with his saxophone and flute. Locally, Robi has played for many corporate and wedding events in a duet or trio setting and has collaborated with his saxophones with local musicians. He has also sung in various choir settings from Chamber, Concert, Gospel, and Christmas Choirs. In 2020, Robi completed the Elite Educator Certification and Music Theory Rudiments Certification: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced with Universal Music Theory.

RVM mission
Growing up Robi did not have a place to expand his musical skills or have someone that could be trusted enough to give him musical guidance on his instruments. He made a promise to himself to make an positive impact on children and aspiring musicians wishing to expand their skills. Robi Varga Music Saxophone Academy is a space to give new and continuing musicians a safe place to improve their understanding on how to play a wind instrument and understand the concepts of improvisation through the saxophone. RVM Saxophone Academy also helps students achieve goals such as:

Robi Varga has taken the approach of neurolinguistic programming to teach music students using Glory St. Germain's approach. Robi teaches theory using the Ultimate Music Theory system.
